About Starr Aviation

Where flying is concerned, Adam has kept his passion for progressive aviation alive by specialising in technically advanced aircraft and glass cockpit operations as well as instrument training and testing. This has resulted in employment with various organisations that have a like mentality including, at one time, the Australasian importer and distributer for Cirrus aircraft. This association with Cirrus has continued with the Cirrus factory certifying Adam as a Cirrus Standardised Instructor Pilot (CSIP) as well as being the first Platinum CSIP in Australia and one of only five Platinum CSIP / Flight Examiners in the world. He has also continued with charter flying and other areas of instruction both single and multi-engine.

As a result of his passions for proper adult education and progressive aviation instruction Adam started Starr Aviation to provide this in both face-to-face and online forums. He has continued to provide a broad range of training and has continued to specialise in glass cockpit, instrument training, and Cirrus aircraft, as well as upgrading/maintaining skills of adult learners.

Adam – CASA certified Flight Examiner

Adam has been training and testing people since 1988 and has done this in various realms including the Army, Ambulance/Paramedicine,
TAFE, University, Air Traffic Control, Flight instruction and instrument training as well as adult education.

In 1999 he began his change of vocation from Paramedic to Aviation by completing a Private Pilot Licence (aeroplane) and a Commercial Pilot Licence (helicopter). At the same time, Adam accepted a new opportunity to work in the training group of Airservices Australia – the Australian provider of air traffic control. Continuing on to a Commercial Pilot Licence (aeroplane) as well, and then an instructor rating allowed for quite a broad scope in aviation teaching. Adam also accepted the position of lecturer at Griffith University for the bachelor of Aviation which further enhanced his abilities and gave an even broader knowledge of aviation and education.

Rebecca is our education and compliance specialist and has been working with Education Queensland since 1990 as well as in the private education arena. Her speciality is taking basic courseware and syllabus items and creating practical exercises from them. She also coordinates a number of concurrent programs and manages staff and administration for these as well as maintaining communication between staff, departments and Education Queensland. Time management, leadership and administrative oversight are also part of her skill set. For these reasons Rebecca is also used to ensure educational and operational compliance within the company as well as proofing courseware for quality and practical application.

Rebecca has more than 20 years’ experience in individual coaching and mentoring and we rely on her to develop those skills in our team and build that experience into our courses. This is invaluable in aviation as our training is almost entirely on and individual basis. This unique blend of skills and depth of experience makes Rebecca an integral and invaluable member of the Starr Aviation team.
